The APS plug-in 1.2 built in Eclipse enables you to take full advantage of the following:
Linking APS project to external application sources
You can link files and folders of an existing APS project to an original application distribution archive. An application archive can be stored on a file system or available at some URL. After you have linked a project to an archive, you can include linked files and folders into the scope of the APS project build. Linking of multiple archives to different project folders is supported.
Modifying files and folders from an external application sources
You may modify some files you have added from an original application distribution archive. Such changes are saved as patches in APS project and applied during APS project building automatically. During synchronization the plug-in checks whether saved patch can be applied to respective archive file. If patch application has failed, the plug-in warns about it, providing reference to the file.
Upgrading APS project to Application Packaging Standard of 1.1 and 1.2
You may upgrade your APS project to Application Packaging Standard of a higher version (1.1 or 1.2). The plug-in converts all metadata into new format automatically and enlarges scope of available APS metadata objects.
APS package localization
You may add localization on a language for general application metadata elements visible to end-user in control panels. When localization is added a respective entry is added to an application metadata.
New Application with License template
You can select special APS project template to start packaging applications with a license. The Application with License template contains license aspect requirements, link to license script and example of a script.
Improved errors reporting
You may get directly to the incorrect metadata element in editor from the errors report generated after package validation by APSLint. The errors occurred are splitted into two categories: critical errors and certification errors.
Support of Eclipse Helios (3.6)
You may proceed with packaging applications and make use of new Eclipse Helios features and improvements.
